Monday through Friday at 9 a.m. Pacific, please join me on Facebook Live as I work on The Perish Project, a multi-canvas acrylic art / performance endeavor which documents the passing of individuals who have perished during the Hamas Israel war, since October 7, 2023. Although a peace treaty is being implemented, I believe those who perished must not be forgotten.
I place my thumb in tan (adult) or gray (child) paint, and press the print onto the canvas in remembrance of the life of a person who has perished. Live, original music is played by Kevin Culbertson, my husband, who is a professional musician.
There are labels on the canvas designating whether they were Israeli, Palestinian, Migrant, Journalist, International Volunteer or Others …
… Whether they perished from explosives, bullets, while as a hostage, from famine, due to age, chronic illness or disability.
I have completed over 22,000 impressions, although over 67,000 prints will need to be painted to complete this project. Perhaps many more will be counted as rubble is removed in Gaza.
It seems daunting. But it will be done.
Please go to Facebook.com and search Deb Culbertson for the approximate 15 minute session.
